Founded in 1978 by a group of passionate volunteers, Pasadena Theatre Company (PTC) began as a regional independent theatre dedicated to involving and educating community members in the joy of live performance. Over the years, PTC has grown into a self-producing company, earning recognition throughout Anne Arundel County and the surrounding region.
In its early years, PTC’s annual musicals served as fundraisers, with proceeds benefiting local schools. In 1979, PTC became a registered non-profit organization, expanding its impact through co-sponsored productions with groups such as Northeast High School Thespians, Saint Bernadette Parish in Severn, Pascal Senior Center in Glen Burnie, and others.
PTC also produced its own shows in local schools—including Old Mill Senior High, Old Mill Middle School, and Glen Burnie High School—bringing live theatre to new audiences and communities. Over time, the company broadened its repertoire to include comedies, dramas, and other family-friendly productions.
Past performance venues have included Baldwin Hall (1984–1997), Kerr Center for the Arts, Severna Park Community Center, Catonsville Theatre Company, and Chesapeake Arts Center, among others.
Today, PTC continues to present productions across Anne Arundel County at theatres and performance spaces such as Anne Arundel Community College, Live Arts MD, and other locally owned facilities, bringing live theatre to audiences throughout the area.
PTC’s work is supported in part by grants from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the generosity of private donors. To learn more about the Arts Council or to become a member, visit www.acaac.org or call 410-222-7949.
